A finished basement, a home bar and a card table on game night all have one thing in common: drinks set down on every flat surface. Here are our Indiana coasters and which set fits where.
They're all in our Indiana gifts collection.
Slate or cork
Indiana coasters come single or in sets of 4, 6 or 8, round or square, 4 inches across.
Slate
Natural slate, a quarter inch thick. The edges are hand chiseled, so no two coasters in a set are exactly alike, and four foam pads on the back protect the table. Slate soaks up condensation instead of pushing it onto the table, and its weight keeps a coaster from sliding when you pick up your glass.
Cork
Cork is 3/16 inch thick and much lighter. It grips the surface without pads, won't clatter or chip, and takes a hot mug as well as a cold glass.
For the basement bar: slate
The Hoosier State slate coaster set has our Hoosier State design: the state outline with a red barn, a race car and a torch, plus "The Hoosier State" and EST. 1816.
For game night: cork
Cork is the easier pick for a card table or a crowded coffee table, since it's light and won't chip if it gets knocked around. The Hoosier State cork coaster set has the same design.
For a big group, order two or three sets and spread them around.
Other Indiana designs
The Indiana slate coaster set and the Indiana cork coaster set come in our 16 state designs. A few that work in a bar or basement:
- Bold State Name, INDIANA in bold lettering with the state shape
- Brush Lettering, INDIANA in hand-drawn letters
- IN Initials, the letters with the state outline
Every coaster in a set carries the same design, so if you want a mix, order a second set in another design.

Care
Rinse slate with warm water and let it air dry. The design is engraved into the slate and burned into the cork, so it won't fade or wash off.
Pair it with a board
For snacks, the Indiana wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle, in the same 16 state designs.
Timing
These aren't made in Indiana. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Sets ship within 1 to 3 business days in a protective sleeve.
