Nebraska Gifts

Nebraska's panhandle steps the shape down on the left, and both the outline and lettering designs use that step as an anchor. These are made to order. Blanks are kept in stock, the Nebraska design is applied after the order comes through, and nothing sits in a box waiting for a buyer.

As Nebraska gifts go, these are the ones that get used rather than shelved.

Slate and Cork Coasters

Both materials come as sets of four in round or square, and the Nebraska artwork is shared across them. Pick the surface that suits the room.

Slate is four inches across and a quarter inch thick, with edges chiseled by hand rather than cut. No two break the same way, which is the appeal. Four foam pads on the underside keep the stone off a finished table. Cork is thinner at 3/16 inch and much lighter, which suits a desk or a coffee table better than a bar.

The Nebraska Designs

Designs include the state outline on its own, brush lettering and script versions of the name, NE initials, a word cloud, a floral fill, and lettering lockups that use the state shape as a letter. Each set of four carries one design, so if you want a mix, order a second set in another design.

Worth stating outright, since it gets asked: the heart and star placements inside the shape are decorative. They are not marking a city.

Ornaments for the Tree

Nebraska ornaments come in slate, wood and leatherette. Slate is dark stone in a 3 or 4 inch round, wood is light with a twine hanger already tied, and leatherette is a thin, shatterproof disc in black, blue or brown, the one to hang low if there are kids or cats near the tree. Merry Christmas From Nebraska versions come in all three materials, which saves you writing a card.

Serving and Cheese Boards

The bamboo board measures seventeen by five and a quarter inches. It is cut long and narrow in the shape of a wine bottle, so it works as a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. One face carries the Nebraska design, the other is a working surface.

This is what to send for a wedding or a housewarming when a coaster set feels too small.

Nebraska City Skylines

Plenty of people are homesick for a city rather than a state. Skylines in the collection include Omaha and Lincoln, each engraved on slate ornaments, wood ornaments, bamboo boards and leatherette wall signs.

For someone who left a specific place, the skyline lands harder than an outline of Nebraska ever will.

Wall Art and Water Bottles

The Nebraska artwork is not limited to coasters and ornaments. The wall art is a 10 by 10 inch leatherette sign with a sawtooth hanger, in blue or brown. Nebraska designs include the Omaha and Lincoln skylines and a Cornhusker State design that pairs the state outline with a western meadowlark, a barn and a windmill.

That Cornhusker State design also goes on a 32 oz insulated stainless steel water bottle in black or white, for the drive, the gym or the commute.

Nebraska Gifts by Occasion

A coaster set covers a housewarming or a closing gift without guessing at anyone's taste. The bamboo board suits a wedding, an anniversary or a host who actually cooks. Ornaments handle Christmas, a first apartment, a graduation move. A set of four is a fair thank-you for the neighbor who watched your dog.

For someone who moved away, their city is usually the safer bet. For someone still in the state, the outline designs read as pride rather than nostalgia.

How These Are Made

Designs go on one of two ways. The laser cuts into the material, so nothing sits on top to peel or scrub off, and the mark reads pale on slate and darker on bamboo. The UV printer lays down full color where the artwork calls for it.

Either way the piece is made after the order arrives, so current turnaround is one to three business days. Coasters and ornaments ship in a protective sleeve, and cutting boards and wall art in a plain box, so plan on wrapping anything meant as a gift.
