Plenty of Louisiana gifts are made for someone who spent a weekend on Bourbon Street. Someone who lives in Louisiana is more likely to want a piece for their own kitchen or wall.
We don't make a Bourbon Street design. Here's what we do make for locals, all in our Louisiana gifts collection.
The Pelican State design
Louisiana is known as the Pelican State. Our Pelican State design pairs the state outline with a fleur de lis, a jazz trumpet and cypress trees, plus "The Pelican State" and EST. 1812, the year Louisiana became a state.
The Pelican State slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate, round or square, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick. The edges are hand chiseled, so no two coasters are alike, and four foam pads on the back protect the table. There's a lighter cork version, 3/16 inch thick, that grips without pads and takes a hot mug.

State designs for the house
The Louisiana slate coaster set comes in 16 Louisiana designs. For someone who lives there:
- Classic Outline, the boot and nothing else
- LA Initials, the letters with the state outline
- Est. 1812, the state outline with the statehood year
- Floral Damask, the state shape in ornate floral scrollwork
Every coaster in a set carries the same design, so if you want a mix, order a second set in another design. The same designs come on the Louisiana cork coaster set.

For the kitchen
The Louisiana wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle, in the same 16 designs. For someone in New Orleans, the New Orleans board carries the city skyline with the cathedral spires, a domed stadium and the bridge over the Mississippi.

For the porch or the commute
The Pelican State water bottle is 32 oz insulated stainless steel in black or white, with a flip top and a built-in straw. Hand wash only.
Timing
These aren't made in Louisiana. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Orders ship within 1 to 3 business days, coasters in a protective sleeve and boards in a plain box, so plan on wrapping anything meant as a gift.
