A cutting board is a kitchen or wedding gift that gets pulled out every week. Here's our Mississippi cutting board, which designs suit a couple or a new home, and how to look after it.
It's in our Mississippi gifts collection.
What the board is
The Mississippi wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle. That long, narrow shape makes it a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. The design is laser engraved into the surface, so there's no ink or paint to wear off. One face carries the design and the other is a working surface.
For a kitchen
The board comes in our 16 Mississippi designs. For a new home:
- HOME Outline, HOME with the state outline as the O
- Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME
For a wedding
For a couple, Home Script & Heart, the state outline with home in script and a heart, reads a little softer.
We don't add names or dates, and the board isn't on any registry service. If the couple has a registry elsewhere, this works as the off-registry gift that still gets used.
Care
Hand wash and towel dry. No dishwasher, and don't leave it soaking. A little food safe mineral oil every so often keeps the bamboo from drying out.
Pair it with coasters
Mississippi is known as the Magnolia State. Our Magnolia State design pairs the state outline with a mockingbird and magnolia blossoms, plus "The Magnolia State" and EST. 1817, the year Mississippi became a state. The Magnolia State slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick, with hand chiseled edges and foam pads on the back.
Timing
These aren't made in Mississippi. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Boards ship within 1 to 3 business days in a plain box, so plan on wrapping it before the party.
