Christmas in Florida comes with shorts, string lights on palm trees and a good chance of eating dinner outside. For a lot of Floridians, that's exactly the point. For people who moved away, it's one of the things they miss most in December.
A Florida ornament puts that version of the holidays on the tree. Here's how to pick one from our Florida gifts collection.
Three materials
We make Florida ornaments in slate, wood and leatherette. They carry the same kinds of designs, so the choice is mostly about look, weight and where the ornament is going.
Slate
Dark natural stone with the design engraved in light, in a 3 or 4 inch round, with a pre-drilled hole and a hanging string. The 3 inch sits into a full tree; the 4 inch is big enough to hang on a door, a mirror or a window all year.
Wood
Light natural wood, 3.5 inches across and about a tenth of an inch thick, with the design engraved dark into the grain. It comes with a twine hanger already tied on.
Leatherette
A thin, 3 3/4 inch disc in black, blue or brown, with a cord attached. It's shatterproof, which makes it the easiest to mail and the one to hang low if kids or cats are around.
Pick the design
Merry Christmas From Florida
For someone who spends the holidays up north, or a snowbird heading down for the season, the Merry Christmas From Florida slate ornament says it outright. The words arch over the state shape, with the name in script and a laurel wreath underneath. It also comes in wood and leatherette.
The state designs
The Florida slate Christmas ornament comes in our Florida state designs, from the full engraved state shape to FL Initials, Florida Script and Home Sweet Home. The same designs run on the wood ornament, so you can match a set across materials.
The Sunshine State
Florida is known as the Sunshine State, and the Sunshine State wood ornament pairs the state outline with a Florida panther and a pine forest, plus "The Sunshine State" and "EST. 1845."
A city skyline
If home is one Florida city, a skyline ornament is more personal. The Tampa skyline slate ornament shows the Riverwalk and the bay, and the Miami Beach skyline wood ornament has the art deco strip with the Atlantic beside it. We make skyline ornaments for other Florida cities too.
For the snowbird tree
Snowbirds often have two homes and two sets of decorations, or one small tree in the condo. A handful of Florida ornaments is an easy way to make the Florida tree feel like its own thing. Mix one Merry Christmas From Florida with a skyline for the town you winter in and the Sunshine State design, and the tree tells the story on its own.
Order timing
Ornaments are made to order: each one is engraved after you buy it and ships within 1 to 3 business days in a protective sleeve. Add carrier transit time, and order early in the season if it needs to arrive by a specific date.
