Why slate

Slate is naturally porous, so it absorbs condensation instead of pushing it onto your table. The dark stone hides drips, the weight keeps a coaster from sliding when you lift your glass, and because the design is cut into the stone itself, it cannot wear off. Rinse with warm water and air dry.

Slate or cork?

We make this same design on both. Slate is heavier and darker, with hand chiseled edges, and reads more like barware. Cork is light, quiet and warm toned, it takes a hot coffee mug as happily as a cold glass, and it cannot chip. Slate is the set you put out for company; cork is the everyday one.
