Tennessee kitchens run from Memphis barbecue to East Tennessee biscuits, and most of them could use a board that goes from the counter to the table. A Tennessee cutting board does that, and it says where the kitchen is.
Here's what our Tennessee boards are and how to pick one. They're all in our Tennessee gifts collection.
What the board is
Every Tennessee board starts from the same blank: solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the silhouette of a wine bottle. The design is laser engraved into one face, so there's no ink or paint to wear off. The engraving comes out in shades from brown to near black, so no two boards look exactly alike.
It's long and narrow, so it's a serving and light slicing board rather than a chopping block. It's good for cheese and crackers, sliced brisket, or a pan of cornbread cut into squares.

For a Nashville kitchen
The Nashville skyline cutting board shows downtown with its twin-spired tower and the bridges over the Cumberland River, with the city name beneath.

For a Memphis kitchen
The Memphis skyline cutting board shows the Pyramid, the bridge over the Mississippi and a riverboat on the water, with the city name beneath. It's the board for a plate of ribs on the way to the table.

For everywhere else in the state
For Knoxville, Chattanooga, the Tri-Cities or a small town in between, the Tennessee wine bottle cutting board comes in our 16 Tennessee state designs. A few that work:
- Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME, for a new house
- LOVE Stacked, with the state as the O in LOVE, for a wedding
- Est. 1796, the year Tennessee joined the Union
- Tennessee Script, the state name in script
These are designs, not custom text, so there's no name or date on the board.

Make it a set
A board and a coaster set make a fuller gift. The Tennessee slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate with hand chiseled edges, round or square, in the same state designs. Or pair a board with the Volunteer State slate coaster set, which has a guitar, a riverboat and the Smoky Mountains.
Care
- Hand wash and towel dry. No dishwasher.
- Don't leave it soaking. Standing water warps a board.
- Oil it with food safe mineral oil when it starts to look pale.
- Store it upright so air reaches both sides.
Made to order
These aren't made in Tennessee. We keep bamboo blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each board after you order. Boards ship within 1 to 3 business days in a plain box, so wrap it yourself or have it sent to you first. See every board on the Tennessee collection page.
