A cutting board is a housewarming or wedding gift that gets pulled out every week. Here's our South Dakota cutting board, which designs suit a new home or a couple, and how to look after it.
It's in our South Dakota gifts collection.
What the board is
The South Dakota wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle. That long, narrow shape makes it a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. The design is laser engraved into the surface, so there's no ink or paint to wear off. One face carries the design and the other is a working surface.
For a new home
The board comes in our 16 South Dakota designs. For a new house:
- HOME Outline, HOME with the state outline as the O
- Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME

For a wedding
For a couple, Home Script & Heart, the state outline with home in script and a heart, reads a little softer.

We don't add names or dates, and the board isn't on any registry service. If the couple has a registry elsewhere, this works as the off-registry gift that still gets used.
Care
Hand wash and towel dry. No dishwasher, and don't leave it soaking. A little food safe mineral oil every so often keeps the bamboo from drying out.
Pair it with coasters
South Dakota is known as the Mount Rushmore State. Our Mount Rushmore State design pairs the state outline with Mount Rushmore and a bison, plus "The Mount Rushmore State." The Mount Rushmore State slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick, with hand chiseled edges and foam pads on the back.
