Mississippi gifts tend to go to one of three people: someone who lives there, someone who went to school there, or someone who moved away and misses it. Here's what we make for each.
Everything below is in our Mississippi gifts collection.
The Magnolia State design
Mississippi is known as the Magnolia State. Our Magnolia State design pairs the state outline with a mockingbird and magnolia blossoms, plus "The Magnolia State" and EST. 1817, the year Mississippi became a state.
The Magnolia State slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate, round or square, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick. The edges are hand chiseled, so no two coasters are alike, and four foam pads on the back protect the table. There's a lighter cork version, 3/16 inch thick, that grips without pads and takes a hot mug.
For locals
For someone who lives there, something for the house tends to beat a souvenir. The Mississippi wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle, so it works as a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. It comes in our 16 Mississippi designs, from a plain outline to MS initials.
The Magnolia State wall sign is 10 by 10 inch leatherette in blue or brown, with a sawtooth hanger, ready to hang.
For alumni
We don't make school or team designs. For someone who went to college in Mississippi, the state designs work without picking sides. Est. 1817 puts the statehood year under the outline, and it comes on the Mississippi slate coaster set and the cutting board.
For people who moved away
For someone who left, the HOME designs say it plainly:
- HOME Outline, HOME with the state outline as the O
- Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME
Both come on the slate coasters, the Mississippi cork coaster set, the cutting board and our Mississippi ornaments. The Magnolia State water bottle goes wherever they went: 32 oz insulated stainless steel in black or white, with a flip top and a built-in straw. Hand wash only.
Timing
These aren't made in Mississippi. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Orders ship within 1 to 5 business days, coasters in a white gift box and boards and wall art in a plain box, so plan on wrapping a board or sign meant as a gift.
