What the board is
The Connecticut wine bottle cutting board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle. That long, narrow shape makes it a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. The design is laser engraved into the surface, so there's no ink or paint to wear off. One face carries the design and the other is a working surface.
For a housewarming
The board comes in our 16 Connecticut designs. For a new house:
- HOME Outline, HOME with the state outline as the O
- Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME
For a couple, Home Script & Heart, the state outline with home in script and a heart, reads a little softer. We don't add names or dates, and the board isn't on any registry service.
For a cook who's lived there forever
The Est. 1788 design marks the year Connecticut joined the Union, and CT Initials keeps it short. Both look at home on a counter in any New England kitchen.
Care
Hand wash and towel dry. No dishwasher, and don't leave it soaking. A little food safe mineral oil every so often keeps the bamboo from drying out.
Pair it with coasters
Connecticut is known as the Constitution State. Our Constitution State design pairs the state outline with a sperm whale, the state animal, plus "The Constitution State" and EST. 1788, the year Connecticut joined the Union. The Constitution State slate coaster set comes as a single coaster or a set of 4, 6 or 8, in natural slate, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick, with hand chiseled edges and foam pads on the back.
Timing
These aren't made in Connecticut. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Boards ship within 1 to 3 business days in a plain box, so plan on wrapping it before the party.
