Flounder Cat All Designs are Hand Drawn by Nina
Nina, also known as Flounder’s mom, is an award-winning artist, animator, and children’s book illustrator whose creative passion shines through every piece of her work. With years of experience bringing whimsical characters to life, Nina has found her greatest inspiration right at home — in the form of her beloved fish, Flounder the Purrmaid. Flounder isn’t just her muse, but also the heart and soul of this collection.
Nina’s favorite subject to paint and draw has always been Flounder, and every design you see begins with real-life moments captured through photography. Flounder has happily “modeled” for countless reference photos, allowing Nina to capture her playful personality and signature expressions with incredible accuracy and charm. From the initial sketch to the finished artwork, each design is lovingly hand-drawn and carefully crafted by Nina herself.

Who Flounder is
Flounder is a real cat who talks using communication buttons. She also paints on canvas with her paws as enrichment, which is where the beret came from. Nina draws her from life, which is why the designs look like a specific animal having a specific thought rather than a generic cartoon cat.
Where the name comes from
Purrcasso is Flounder at the easel. The watercolor splash behind her is not decoration, it is roughly what the floor looks like afterward.
