Nebraska Cutting Boards for Wedding Registries and New Homes

Bamboo wine bottle cutting board engraved with the Nebraska HOME Outline design

A cutting board is a gift a new household will actually use. Here are our Nebraska cutting boards, and which ones work for a wedding or a new home.

They're in our Nebraska gifts collection.

What the board is

Each board is solid bamboo, 17 by 5.25 inches, cut in the shape of a wine bottle. That long, narrow shape makes it a cheese board, a charcuterie plank or a bar tray. The design is laser engraved into the surface, so there's no ink or paint to wear off, and the engraving shifts between browns and blacks, so no two boards match exactly.

For a new home

The Nebraska wine bottle cutting board comes in our 16 Nebraska designs. For a new house:

  • HOME Outline, HOME with the state outline as the O
  • Home Sweet Home, with the state shape as the O in HOME

For a wedding

For a couple, Home Script & Heart, the state outline with home in script and a heart, reads a little softer.

We don't add names or dates, and the board isn't on any registry service. If the couple has a registry elsewhere, this works as the off-registry gift that still gets used.

City boards

For a couple setting up in Omaha or Lincoln:

  • Omaha board, with a downtown tower, a pedestrian bridge and downtown on the Missouri River
  • Lincoln board, with the capitol tower rising over the prairie

Care

Hand wash and towel dry. No dishwasher, and don't leave it soaking. A little food safe mineral oil every so often keeps the bamboo from drying out.

Pair it with coasters

The Cornhusker State slate coaster set has the state outline with a western meadowlark, a barn and a windmill on natural slate coasters, sold single or in sets of 4, 6 or 8, 4 inches across and a quarter inch thick. Slate soaks up condensation instead of pushing it onto the table.

Timing

These aren't made in Nebraska. We keep plain blanks in stock in our workshop in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and engrave each piece after you order. Boards ship within 1 to 3 business days in a plain box, so plan on wrapping it before the party.
